Clearly we have internet.... And obviously the camera works! So why no pictures?
At first we hesitated because other families had posted on their blogs that it is illegal to post pics of the children before court as it is a violation of a Ukrainian privacy law. hum... not sure where this came from as our facilitator has not heard of such a thing.
But since we had waited we decided we wanted to give "A" (big sis) a special present and let her be the first to see him, hear his laugh in video and talk to him on the phone. We continue to regret daily that we did not bring her along. We realize that so far our trip has been a cake walk compared to others on the same journey. And we can not dismiss that there are potential events that we know are more likely here that make us grateful she is not here. But mostly we miss her terrible and wish she was here on this special journey.
Lastly we want to hold out until next week on the pics just to make sure that there are no hurdles ahead of us that would prohibit us from completely this adoption.
Someone described me the other day by saying "you hope like an optimist and prepare like a pessimist". So true! I am sure that all will be fine. And "D" has already said he knows I will cave soon enough because I am so excited for you all to meet him :-)
Thanks for everything! And we love reading all the comments!!!

The back of his head is absolutely adorable. ;)
I totally understand about the pictures. I, however, do have a specific reason for not posting pictures based on another family's experience. I vote you wait until after you've had court to post pictures of his face. :)
Oh, and I don't know if you've already got resources in place, but I'm emailing my friend whose daughter had her cleft palate fixed here in StL. I'll send her recommendations your way. :) :)
Courtney - thanks so much! I have not given it much thought yet so I truly appreciate your recommendation.
Can't wait the meet him. I love pictures! We are right behind you in the process.
I love the pictures that you did post - what a great way to share your son without sharing too much :) There are some risks involved with posting too soon (mainly emotional, but I've also heard that some can be legal issues), and that's why we waited until after court. Glad things are going well, and pray that they continue to go in that direction!
Ya, I too have never heard of it being a legal thing posting pics but more of a precaution (just in case!). Most importantly - I love the pics that you did post! So excited for you guys! Glad things are going so well.
Oh my gosh, how cute!! I'm so happy for you guys...can't wait to see you all when you get back & hear your story in person!
Love ya,
Dina
Congratulations! We had a private blog and kept our son's face hidden until the court date too. We also were told by our agency of Ukraine's policy, and that some families get in trouble because of what they post on their blog! Safety is always the best policy! So glad everything is going well, this is how it SHOULD be! God Bless!
