Court is tomorrow at 9:00am

We can not wait to officially introduce you to our son :-)

So many of you have asked why if you have court tomorrow can you not bring your son home with you on Saturday?
Yes tomorrow is court and this preceeding will make the adoption nearly official. There is still a 10-day appeal period. This will start the day after court (in our case Thurs 9-4) and end 13 days later in our case -- because the 10th day falls on a weekend, we have to add a Monday to the timeframe since courts are not open on the weekend. The purpose of the wait period is to allow the family members or ourselves (we are still waiting on the results of some blood work such as HIV tests ect) to appeal the court hearing.
On the surface this seems like a bit of bummer. But it really is put in place to protect the adoption from any further issues. And the 10day appeal period sure seems like nothing compared to the stateside 1year finalization period for an adoption.
There are rare occassions where the judge will waive the appeal period but according to our sons social worker, the judge in this town has never done such a thing.
After the appeal period, I ("M") will return to Ukraine alone to finish up some paperwork and bring little "G" home for good :-)
Wish us luck tomorrow :-)

As you know...Sam and I will be praying this evening for you...usually around 8:00 pm (4 am Wed (your time)...i think). If I am awakened in the night (either by God...to pray for you or Samuel wanting a bottle) you can know that I will be in deep prayer for you. I have been specifically asking that you find favor in the eyes of those who are making decisions! We know that God moves the hearts of kings (The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases Proverbs 21:1), so we know that can include Judges :-). We love you, and can't wait to hear the good news!

If all it took was love to give you good luck, you'd have it made! Everyone here, that we know, is praying for you. 9:00 am in Ukraine is 1:00 am here. Hmmmm, I might still be up praying hard. I think your 13 day waiting period will be the hardest time for you both. Hopefully we'll be able to help you with that.

Love you both a bunch, Mom xo
